Implications Counselling
DONOR CONCEPTION • SURROGACY • EGG, SPERM & EMBRYO DONATION
A Reflective Space for Thoughtful Decision-Making
Implications Counselling offers a calm, reflective space to explore the emotional, relational, and ethical questions that arise through fertility treatment involving third-party reproduction, including donor conception, gamete (egg, sperm and embryo) donation, and surrogacy.
At Fertility Counselling, this work sits at the heart of what we do. We provide sensitive, specialist support that honours the complexity of creating family in modern ways. These choices touch the deepest parts of who we are. Our role is to hold a warm, confidential space where you can think, feel, and decide with clarity and emotional integrity.

What Is Implications Counselling?
Implications Counselling is a specialist therapeutic consultation, often required or recommended by UK fertility clinics for anyone involved in treatment using donor eggs, sperm, or embryos, or for those exploring surrogacy.
It isn’t an assessment or a test, it’s a conversation guided by a qualified Fertility Counsellor, designed to help you reflect on:
- The emotional meaning of using or donating eggs, sperm, or embryos
- The potential impact on future children and how openness might be approached
- The influence on your relationship or family system
- The personal, ethical, and cultural dimensions unique to your situation
- The legal and practical context (aligned with HFEA and BICA guidance)
This process helps ensure your decisions feel emotionally considered, informed, and right for you.
Who It’s For
Implications Counselling is for anyone considering fertility treatment.
- Individuals or couples receiving donor eggs, sperm, or embryos

Why Implications Counselling Matters
Fertility decisions shape more than outcomes, they shape the stories families are built on. Implications Counselling gives you the time and emotional space to ensure those stories begin with clarity, honesty, and thoughtfulness.
Many clients describe these sessions as grounding, a pause amid the intensity of treatment. A moment to reconnect to your values and sense of self, and move forward with confidence in what feels right for you.
At Fertility Counselling, we advocate for autonomy and integrity, supporting you to stay aligned with what feels right for you, your body, and your future.
